James Doughty joins KWES NewsWest 9

Broadcast journalist James Doughty joins NewsWest 9 as News Director. James most recently worked at City Hall in San Antonio and in television news at KENS 5. Born in Midland, Texas, James graduated from Texas Tech University in 1997 with a BA in Broadcast Journalism. He's worked in many Texas newsrooms including KVII, KIII, KTRE and KSAN.

James is happily married with two children and several pets.

James and his wife Angela will attend Kelview Heights Baptist Church, where James attended as a child and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

James is a 4th generation Texan. He carries the namesake of his 3rd great-grandfather who was the first superintendent of the King Ranch and Sheriff of Refugio county. Another ancestor, John Moses, came to Texas in 1847 and wrote a series of columns for the San Antonio Express News from 1887 to 1890 under the pseudonym Sesom.
